Planning any event, large or small, is a project containing many “moving parts”. Music and entertainment are key components that can determine how successful an event will turn out. My mission is to create a “WOW” experience at every event that I am associated with. If I’m having tons of fun, then I know the guests are as well. Unlike big DJ companies, I have developed a boutique business treating each client in a one-on-one manner that assures they get my undivided attention from our first contact until the day of your event and beyond. Most of my business has come from personal referrals which is a testimony to my total commitment to each client.
I have predicated my business and success on “The Four P’s”….
I invite you join the “Jammin’ Jon” Sommers family of clients. That’s what we have become. A network of not only business relationships but lasting friendships as well.
Before moving to South Florida many years ago, I grew up in Central New Jersey. I had the pleasure of listening on the radio to the greatest DJs in the country on such iconic “Top 40” stations as WABC and WMCA in New York City as well as WFIL and WIBG in Philadelphia. The music intoxicated me as a teenager and into my early adulthood. But it was the big personalities of those infamous DJs that captivated me even more. They were more than announcers that simply introduced the songs they played. They became your friend, even though you hadn’t met them personally. I remember taking out an old reel-to-reel tape recorder and placing the microphone near the radio speaker to record and capture the essence of their presentations. Then I would play it back over and over again and try to recreate what they were doing. It was in those moments that I knew it was what I wanted to do some day.
After college, I decided to embark on the mission to fulfill my dream. After pounding the pavement and numerous rejections, I landed a weekend overnight air shift on a very small AM radio station. I thought I had died and gone to heaven! Little did I know that this would evolve into becoming part of the on-air staffs at some of the best radio stations in the country. While doing my thing on air, many listeners asked me if I would be interested in DJing and Emceeing their private parties. So I invested in some equipment. I guess I did OK as my phone started ringing off the hook requesting my services. As the referrals for private events kept increasing, so did the inquiries and bookings for public venues, country clubs, community clubhouses. class reunions and other assorted types of events. And the result has been over 30 years of service and fun to my many clients that I also am proud to call friends. I have truly been blessed to combine my passion and knowledge of music with my love of people into my business.
